Compliance

Member Care

Cross-cultural workers live in a stressful environment, often experiencing a continual stream of incidents which can affect their physical and mental health. It can also impact their efficiency and ability to carrying out their call. Living in a culture that is not your own alone is stressful and living without the normal support systems that we all have of family, friends and church, means that often additional, outside support is needed.

The aim of member care is to provide support not only to help a person survive but to help them develop resilience and reliance on God to learn from their situation and ultimately equip them to thrive in an “alien’ environment.

Member care personnel within an organisation and those para organisations that focus on assisting cross-cultural workers need support, continual training and connection to enable them to be the providers of the support needed.

The member care networks exist to assist in providing these needs.

Third Culture Kids (TCK)

If you're a Missionary Kid (MK) currently living in Australia, this is the group for you. The  TCK (MK) Network is a community of MKs and TCKs from roughly high school to uni age. Together we have fun, encourage one another, and work together to navigate the complexities of cross-cultural transition and growing as children of God.

The TCK Network aims to create an environment where MKs can comfortably interact and receive support from each other. We encourage MKs to value their uniqueness and realise their full potential in Christ.

Get connected, find out what event we're having next, and get in touch with other MKs.

What are our events like?

Games and movie nights, day-trip adventures, bowling, trampolining, soccer comps, and craft afternoons are just some of the events we have in a 'normal' year! We typically hold an event a month and mix things up a bit with a more chill catch up and then some more out-and-about events.

Ours is a pretty varied network, and there are always some regulars, new attendees, or old friends who have come along to say 'hi!' so all our events are a friendly, warm space to meet some other MKs! We know that it can be a daunting experience coming along for the first time. So, if you'd like to catch up with the leaders beforehand, ask a few questions, or have us connect you with some MKs with similar backgrounds or experiences, don't hesitate to contact us. We're keen to meet you!

Mission and Disability Engagement (MADE)

Why the MADE network exists?

Through disability, Christians have the opportunity to display God’s power and glory most clearly to those we seek to reach. Yet, there is a risk that the missions movement might adopt a secular perspective of skill and success rather than a biblical one. There is a tendency to engage those who seem to have it all together, are intelligent, gifted communicators, physically fit, and winsome – the people who make Christians look good in every way – to be pastors and missionaries. However, God is particularly interested in the humble – in those who admit their need for him. He has a knack for using great combinations of abilities and disabilities for his glory.

This network exists to explore how our approach to the mission can include those with a disability, whether through advocacy, policy, practical support in preparation and/or on the field or in other ways. We celebrate stories of people with disability in mission and inspire others with a disability to explore the call.

Why? So the missions movement will be blessed, as Jesus says in Luke 14:13-14!

Can I join the MADE network?

If the above or any of the following activities inspire you, please join us:

  • Compiling case studies of families/people with disability and the impact of that disability for the Missio Dei

  • Sharing experiences and case studies from your agency

  • Discussing common issues faced in including/sending people with disability

  • Sharing resources on sending people with disability

  • Developing a disability inclusion policy for your agency

  • Undertaking a disability inclusion audit and planning process for your organisation

MEETINGS:

The group meets 2-3 times each year.
We generally meet online, and will occasionally organise a face-to-face meeting coinciding with a missions event.
