MAST
Missions Interlink Advanced Security Training
Missions Interlink Advanced Security Training is based on biblical principles, conducted specifically for Christian cross-cultural workers to help provide them with foundational skills to be safe when travelling and serving in a cross-cultural context.
This is a two-day face-to-face course that incorporates indoor and outdoor training, and role-play sessions. Participants are trained on relevant topics facing believers working in open and restricted access areas.
This is a 1-day course designed for teams (churches, colleges, or agencies) embarking on short-term cross-cultural trips lasting up to 21 days. It is available only to organizations, not individuals going alone.
MTT aims to:

“build the team” that is to go and also to link it more securely with the broader sending teams

sensitise the team in such a way that it is willing and able to respect the needs and perspectives of the local receiving community.

Details: Allows organisations to facilitate the course independently using provided digital manuals and PowerPoint materials.

Eligibility: Requires a facilitator with cross-cultural mission experience, an adult learning background (or completion of MI's free online facilitator training), and completion of MIST or TT ot T-TRIM Training.

Fees: $1,499 + GST one-off fee ($1,699 + GST for non-members). Includes future course updates. Multi-entity organisations pay an extra $199 per affiliate.

Details: Led by an official Missions Interlink facilitator. MI provides digital manuals; the host organisation provides catering and equipment (projector/screen).

This is an interactive weekend course designed for individuals, families, or teams preparing for cross-cultural work (going for 3 weeks to 2 years), whether in Australia or overseas.

This course is a pre-departure training program designed to equip cross-cultural workers with practical skills, strategies, and tools for learning a new language. Developed and run by qualified linguists and anthropologists, the program helps participants navigate language acquisition with or without a formal language school.

Practical Training: Practice learning directly from native speakers without textbooks and master non-native language sounds.

This program is an 8-day live-in course provided by Missions Interlink. It equips participants with biblical principles and missiological awareness while offering practical experience for transitioning into another culture. Full attendance is required, and pre-course material is sent prior to commencement.

The course prepares cross-cultural workers to effectively transition into working alongside Australian Aboriginal people, particularly in remote communities. Adapted from Missions Interlink’s core Transition Training, it is co-facilitated by agencies including Coordinate, Wycliffe, Pioneers, Nungalinya, YWAM Darwin, and World Outreach.

Format: A ~10-day course split across two blocks (mid-January and the October NT school holidays). A 3-day "Working with Aboriginal Australians + Taster" unit is available for those with limited time.
